UK Beach Contaminated by Disposable Plastic PollutionDisposable plastic pollution isn't confined to developing countries as this picture of a polluted beach in the UK shows. -
Underwater Bottle PollutionUnfortunately, out of sight, out of mind applies here as our disposable plastic pollution lies undewater, away from sight. However this plastic pollution is still an ecological hazard and will easily make its way into the ecosystem and foodchain -

Animal Plastic Pollution 2It takes up to ten times more water to manufacture a bottle of water than actually ends up in the bottle. The water used in manufacturing must then be treated at a treatment facility, which requires energy and leads to even more pollution. Photo of a dead animal that was starved to death after eating plastic which didn´t pass through. -
Animal Plastic Pollution 3When will you stop using plastic? How will this impact on our future generations? -
Animal Plastic Pollution 4When will you stop using plastic? How will this impact on our future generations? -
Animal Plastic Pollution 5Seven sperm whales were recently found stranded on a Mediterranean beach. The toxics absorbed and stored in their fat (including mercury, lead, and cadmium) were released as the whales became dehydrated. Necropsies also revealed plastic bags in their stomachs. -
Animal Plastic Pollution 6Turtle with a plastic band lodged whilst young, the turtle grew around it. -
Plastic Bottle Pollution BeachThe majority of water consumed from plastic bottles is done by people on the move. The main reason this is extra detrimental to the eco system is that there is no way to recycle in most public places. These bottles are thrown in the trash or even on the side of the road or sidewalks in the form of litter. The ones that do make it to the landfills not only take up spaces, but leak toxins into the ground during their long degradation times. Where previously in 95 the rate of recycling was at about 53 percent, it has now fallen to 17 percent. If more are recycled, the domestic agencies that handle these tasks will have a firmer market as opposed to their current state. They are in dire straights as currently the majority of plastic is exported to China for mass processing. -

Pacific Ocean Plastic Pollution Garbage PatchA dead albatross chick photographed on Midway Atoll, a strip of sand and coral in the North Pacific. These are the actual stomach contents of this baby bird in one of the world's most remote marine sanctuaries. All over the Pacific albatross chicks are fed junk by their parents, who mistake pieces of plastic for food and bring them back to their young. On this diet of human trash, every year 100,000 baby birds die from starvation, toxicity, and choking.

Plastic EverywhereThere is no realistic way of cleaning the oceans, advocates say the key is to keep more plastic out by raising awareness and, wherever possible, challenging a throwaway culture that uses non-biodegradable materials for disposable products.
